2023 was a year of transition and growth for Xcelerate as we completed our rebrand, launched our new website, and welcomed new staff, coaches, and leadership. As we look back on the last 12 months, it’s clear that even in a year of big changes, we kept our organizational focus on you - Xcelerate’s transformative community - and our mission of helping women and gender expansive business owners overcome systemic inequities to grow their businesses and build economic power now.
We are proud to share that in 2023 Xcelerate provided Business Advising and Peer Mentorship, our highest impact direct services, to 181 women-owned businesses with $26.9M in gross revenues and collectively employing 537 Oregonians. 52% of program participants were women of color and 44% identified as LGBTQ+, immigrant/refugees, disabled/impaired, or single moms. Additionally, we delivered educational workshops, panels, and events to 375 community members across the State, for a total of 1,909 service interactions.
We could not do this work without the generous support of public and private funders like Prosper Portland, Business Oregon, and Oregon Community Foundation, our corporate partners including Market of Choice and OnPoint Community Credit Union, and individual donors like you. As you consider your year end charitable contributions, please consider making a 100% tax deductible gift of any amount to Xcelerate.
Why give to Xcelerate? Because while 42% of small businesses in the US are women-owned, only 4.2% of US women-owned businesses ever make it to over $1M in revenues. And while women of color account for an astounding 89% of net new women-owned businesses, and 50% of women-owned businesses overall, they generate 70% less revenue than those of their white counterparts. It’s estimated that 4M new jobs and $981B in revenue would be added to the US economy if that revenue gap was eliminated. Imagine what that sort of growth would look like for Oregon’s economy, schools, and communities! Donate now.
At Xcelerate, we envision a world in which women have full and equitable access to business ownership as a means to create economic power, build generational wealth, and positively impact their communities. Our programs are designed to shift social and cultural norms to value the way women show up in business, leading to an economic system in which women are amplified and gain greater access to resources, skills development, and social capital.
Please join us taking action today to help us build a more vibrant and equitable future. Your tax deductible donations are a direct way to support economic power for women and gender expansive business owners across Oregon. Together, we can change the face of success in business to be more inclusive, authentic, and sustainable. Make a meaningful gift.
Wishing you a wonderful new year!
